Nice review from Dave. Great to hear one from a fellow musician who wanted more Rough and Rowdy and gave his Dad some homework beforehand ...now I will get the Basement Tape #11 so I can hear both versions of his 52 year old song.
That was fun. Alongside some folks who have seen Dylan hundreds of times - I love their reviews - it's nice to hear from someone who loves Bob but had only seen him twice before this show.
If it's any consolation to Dave, I was at the Alpharetta, Georgia show in 2024 (where I finally met Ray in person after doing the layout on his book) where he played five new covers, including three he's never repeated before or since, and I didn't know what I'd heard until the rush of reviews and the googling afterwards.
(Well, I did know Hank Williams' "Cold, Cold Heart" which he played that night, and "Little Queenie," but not "The Fool" nor "My Babe" nor "Mr. Blue") I attribute that to Dylan being 1,000x more musically knowledgeable than me, even though my friends think I'm musically knowledgeable ...
I'd love it if Dylan continues to dip into that crazy Basement Tapes grab-bag this summer, but we can feel pretty sure that won't happen just 'cause he did it once. But one can dream!
Great Review! Never thought Dylan would break the 'Outlaw Blues' record - 59 years! And there are people who think he doesn't care about his back catalogue! [Footnote - very pleased, as a Brit, to see a band named 'Death Cab for Cutie' - an obscure Bonzo's track that briefly featured in the strip club scene in the TV movie for 'Magical Mystery Tour!!!]
What a great review. The part about his dad really added to it. I'm like Dave, I'm always playing in Brighton when Bob's in London, London when he's in Brighton, or west coast when he's on the east coast...Thanks so much for taking us to the show.
Such a good field report Dave Depper. When my crew asked me why I was tearing up I told them that now I understand why classical music nerds fall out for first chair violin type people. I thought my thrill was going to be seeing my so-cal childhood hero do a knitters adjacent show and Doug Pettibone doing his thing with the royal Lucinda Williams. Bob Dylan (of course) and everyone in that band were zero chair. Impossibly great.

Shout out to the The Style Council crossover fans.

What a lovely review. Makes me want to have Dave (with his girlfriend and his dad) over for dinner.
Wonderful review! As a 20 year Death Cab fan this was thrilling!
Loved reading this review! Did nobody record this one? Didn't know that ever happened with Dylan shows lol

Love this approach to “Masterpiece” he’s taken.
