Soooo good to read this. Beautifully done, CR! Additionally, I really appreciate all the detail and your perceptions of the DETROIT show, as I was not there--after being at GR and Saginaw. (Saginaw was exceptionally fun to my eyes, ears, heart!!!) Thank you! And many thanks to you, Ray, for keeping these reviews coming!

Making us think. And feel.

Funny how 2 people can hear 2 different shows. I was sitting hard left of the stage, floor level and I found the sound perfectly adequate. The dynamics of piano, acoustic guitars and Tony’s bass I found to be lovely, intimate. My only quibble would that the drum could come across too hard rockin’ for what the rest of the performers were conveying. As ever, Dylan finds ways to put across new distinctions of meaning. With playing so evocative one can be forgiven for listening to the performances plural, and to be roused from revery as particular performances, each in turn, broke through. Never did it, to my untrained ears, sound technically deficient. I’ve been enthralled since 1974 and I have sure heard him get lost and gnarly in all the ways possible, but this night was sweet soulful Detroit Dylan.

There have been chronic sound problems on and off for the last 20+ years. It's really inexcusable.
