HI, After Rubin got out and moved to Canada in fear of the US gov. doing yet another nasty deal and him ending back in prison, i got to know him somewhat and photographed him numerous times, had some great life changing conversations and feel honoured to have known him. A photo with Vern Harper who was also a boxer in his early years called Hurricane Harper after his hero Rubin at the time. Vern a cree medicine man and Rubin became close friends, both gone now....rubin and vern (i have many other photos of Rubin)

Wow. A great read. I recently listened to the bbc podcast on the Carter’s conviction. It’s fantastic but it left me doubting the whole thing tbh. Those photos are fantastic!

Imagine a figure like Bob Dylan today, running around an auditorium keeping an eye on his kid. Impossible. What a great story. Thanks so much for sharing.

Great post. Your ability to track down people with stories about Bob’s shows makes for fascinating reading.

another darn good story, all these make my little encounters pale, lol....Hurricane was/is a cool song, got that classic chord sequence although, for me, the violin and congas are sort of dorky

Fascinating backstory, Mr. Rosen (no relation to Jeff, I presume?), and another great scoop for you, Ray. For what it's worth, that third photo apparently got reversed. Well, unless Dylan decided to come out and play left-handed that night. Or maybe it was for a Fender ad and he was just messing with them?

Good catch. I wrote about every damn 74 show and don't recall one where he suddenly went lefty. Flipped.

I think this was a great story. Thanks to the thoughtful author, and to you too, Ray, for making it possible for us to read. Flagging Down the Double E's is alway a first read in my days.

Fascinating, all of it. Most revealing to me is that Bob, even in his pre-show persona, is a good Dad. Watchful, protective, firm.

Thanks. Thoroughly love these deep focus posts.

There used to be website called Graphic Witness, and it had all the details of the Carter cases.

After reading all that, in my opinion Carter was guilty.
