Absolutely brilliant - who else could sustain such a niche angle ... hotel stationery! (NB: Stationary, with an "A", means standing still ... with an "E" it means notepads etc.)

Man good thing I didn't use that word like 100 times or anything! Thanks fixed. Guess I need to spend more time in paper-good stores.

Man that is tremendous investigatory work! Incredible..

I have always liked the idea of Bob's "box" where he places orphan lyrics and reaches into the raffle box from time to time to see what he can come up with if he's stuck or frustrated and need a jolt

hotel though.

FYI The Roger Smith hotel in DC was previously named the Powhatan hotel and was razed in 1975.

The Rolling Stones staued at the Waldorf Astoria in Toronto in early 1977 where plans for their club shows at the El Mocambo in March 1977 were hatched. It was a luxury hotel for years.

Appreciate all the extraordinary Dylan sidebar details, Ray. I gain understanding from the information and knowledge you research, therefore I hereby honor you with a well deserved PhD for your contribution to Dylan knowledge. 😉🎓

I like the article…but not sure I agree with the assumption he’s staying at the hotels at the same time he’s writing the lyrics. Just an observation/suggestion that he maybe carries around various pads that are from previous hotel visits before he uses them…I still have various hotel pads from down the years I use to scribble on - dont want to see things going to waste!

I live in Denver - that Holiday Inn is now an apartment building! They mention Rolling Stones and the Beatles on their website but not Dylan. :( https://www.boutiqueapartments.com/apartments/turntable-studios/default

The execrable World Bank are on the south side of PA Ave & !8th St's in DC. The Roger Smith hotel was far more appealing. Like A Rolling Stone written in DC? That's exciting news.

The Waldorf Astoria in Toronto became the hotel for many of the first generation touring punk rockers who came through town, as Gary Topp (of The Garys) the promoter who introduced everyone from The Ramones and Talking Heads to Grandmaster Flash to Toronto crowds, lived more or less beside it.
