I love everything about this story. And, I love the look on Bob's face in that last Fender ad. That smile -- pissed off, incorrigible, and angelic all in a single frame. Yup, that tracks. Thanks always for everything you share!
I had always guessed it was a posed photo because I didn't think Dylan would have played a bass guitar at a recording session. I did actually wonder if he's done it as a joke, so this story all makes total sense. Fabulous account - including the juxtaposed photos at the end! Thanks!
Thanks Ray, Another great Dylan story! I dimly remember that CBS had just acquired Fender so this was the commercial imperative. True? Obviously Grossman could smell money.

Fabulous report! You are filling out so many gaps in the Dylan story!

..and Dylan’s left hand? Those are all fake chords on a bass?
I love this story! I’ve seen Dylan twice in concert.

My lockscreen is one of the serious expression ones from this shoot, but after seeing that smiley one I might have to change
Those members of the Byrds were more likely members of the Hawks?
This is why I'm here! Thanks Ray! Without you, this is another interesting story that would not have seen the light of day!
Great story. Love it.
Love these photos. Never cooler.
I appreciated that to the utmost degree😃
